COVID-19 and Pool & Spa Usage

In these unprecedented times, we have fielded several questions about COVID-19 and pool & spa usage. We hope to re-assure our customers that, when properly sanitized, your hot tub & pool are safe. The following is a statement from the CDC website:

“There is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools, hot tubs or spas, or water playgrounds. Proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection (e.g., with chlorine and bromine) of pools, hot tubs or spas, and water playgrounds should inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19.”

A spa can reduce stress, help you sleep better, and encourage you to reconnect with family. With proper sanitation your hot tub is safe to use and enjoy.

With increased usage, it is essential to maintain the quality of your spa water. If you are using your hot tub more than usual, we recommend adding a granular sanitizer (chlorine or bromine) to the spa water after each use. A typical 400 gallon spa will require a 1 tbsp. after each use.

The best time to test your water sanitization level is BEFORE you enter the hot tub. If the test strip results show 0ppm of chlorine or bromine, with jets running, add 1 tbsp per 400 gallons. Wait 20 minutes. Test again. Repeat until test strips show 1-3ppm of sanitizer.

We recommend using a sanitizing wipe for disinfecting the acrylic surface.

We always have test strips in sanitizers in stock. Call us if you need to re-stock your supplies for free delivery or curbside pick-up.

*Please be sure to read the entire label and follow all manufacturer instructions when testing, applying and storing chemicals.
